Former Phillies pitcher Tyson Brummett dies in a plane crash

Former Phillies pitcher Tyson Brummett died in a small plane crash in Utah on Friday morning, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

Brummett, 35, piloted the plane that crashed near Box Elder Peak. Three other passengers were on board, including Alex Ruegner, 35 and Alex’s aunt and uncle Elaine Blackhurst, 60, and Douglas Blackhurst, 62. All four were pronounced dead at the scene. A witness said the plane spiraled out of his view and he heard an impact just moments later.
