On an off night for the Phillies’ offense, five scoreless innings from Walker Buehler helped the club beat the Marlins on Thursday at Citizens Bank, 1-0.
Buehler allowed three hits — all singles– in his five innings of work. The right-hander had command issues, walking three batters and hitting another. What helped the veteran most was getting in and out of trouble. He escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third; his defense helped him out in the fourth.
With a runner on first and two outs in the third inning, Buehler allowed a single to Agustín Ramírez, which was hit too hard off the left-field wall to score Troy Johnston from first base.
