The lineup the Philadelphia Phillies will trot out on Opening Day a week from now is, on paper, probably the team’s best since the 2008 group that won the World Series.
There’s a case to be made that it’s even better.
Take your pick as to which takes the cake, or maybe hold off judgment until you see exactly how Joe Girardi configures it next Friday. But with that comparison in mind — as well as the chasm between those two and the rest of the bunch, and as well as the anticipation for the season opener we’re all feeling right about now — let’s take a look back at each Phillies Opening Day lineup since 2000, including those two heavyweights, some absolute clunkers and everything in between.
