Edmundo Sosa leaves game early in win over Royals

PHILADELPHIA — The Phillies’ infield depth has taken a massive hit this week. Edmundo Sosa was pulled for pinch hitter Weston Wilson in the seventh inning of an eventual 8-2 Phillies win over the Kansas City Royals. The team did not immediately provide an injury designation.

Sosa’s early exit comes just days after the Phillies placed both Alec Bohm and Trea Turner on the 10-day injured list. Bohm could be back after the 10 days are up. Turner is expected to return before the postseason begins.

Sosa was hobbled for most of the game, but it became evident that the Phillies infielder was dealing with an issue in his lower half when he couldn’t reach a ball up the middle off the bat of Kyle Isbel in the seventh inning.
