PHILADELPHIA — David Robertson had last stepped foot on the mound at Citizens Bank Park in a Phillies uniform on Nov. 3, 2022. He threw a scoreless inning in a crushing Game 5 loss, then tossed another in Houston two days later as Philadelphia’s magical World Series run came to a close.
Three seasons later, Robertson made his return to South Philadelphia for his first home game during his third stint with the Phillies, and the 40-year-old reliever looked like he was in old-fashioned form. The right-hander pitched a shutout eighth inning and later earned the win in a 6-4 victory over the Mariners on Tuesday night.
