PHILADELPHIA — After missing the Phillies’ win to open up a doubleheader against the Braves on Thursday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, superstar Bryce Harper will not be in the starting lineup for the nightcap either.
Harper left Tuesday’s game with a right elbow contusion following a hit-by-pitch in his first plate appearance. Rob Thomson said following the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader that Harper was continuing to feel better after providing an update on the slugger beforehand.
“He still had swelling, still was in pain, but it was a lot better than we expected,” Thomson said on Thursday morning.
