Report: Phillies willing to trade Cole Hamels, Dodgers favorites?

In today's Phillies rumors and news update, the Philadelphia Phillies have taken the "untouchable" tag off of starting pitcher Cole Hamels, making him available with just a few days left until the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline.

According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports 1, the deep-pocketed Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites for Hamels - provided that the two sides can work out a tenable agreement:

With Hamels under team control for four years with an option for 2019, the chance to land a top-tier arm for nearly half a decade has to be intriguing for several buyers currently on the market.

However, multiple reports are indicating that the Phillies are only willing to eat $10 million of the $90 million owed to Hamels through 2018. In addition, GM Ruben Amaro is looking for a blockbuster trade package headlined by a marquee prospect. Said asking price is reportedly scaring some potential suitors off and could very well lead to Hamels remaining with the team through the deadline.
