The Philadelphia Phillies are known to have been actively shopping Cliff Lee for some time, with the Boston Red Sox generating the most traction. The Phillies are said to be asking for top Red Sox prospect Xander Bogaerts (right), who has torn up every level of the minor leagues (currently slugging .483 at AAA Pawtucket) and was rated as the No. 8 overall prospect in baseball before this season.
However, the Red Sox are unwilling to so much as even discuss a trade involving Bogaerts, while the Phillies simply won't settle for anything less. Something's gotta give for this deal to happen, and now both sides feel that is increasingly unlikely.
