Phillies News - Ryan Howard reaches 1,000th RBI faster than any active player

In tonight's Phillies news update, Ryan Howard reached a career milestone with 1000th RBI on Saturday - faster than any current player in the Major Leagues has reached said milestone.

Per Erik Bacharach and Paul Hagen of MLB.com, Howard's three-run home run during the seventh inning of Saturday's 5-4 loss to the New York Mets put the Philadelphia Phillies slugger into some pretty elite company:

"Howard needed just 1,230 games to reach the milestone, the fewest games needed among all active Major League players to reach the milestone," writes Bacharach and Hagen in an article posted on Saturday. "Currently, there are just 17 active players in MLB with 1,000 or more RBIs."

Ryan Howard passed Chuck Klein (984) for fourth on the Philadelphia Phillies' all-time RBI list earlier in the year. Howard only trails Mike Schmidt (1,595), Ed Delahanty (1,286) and Del Ennis (1,124) on the list - a list which Howard could find himself climbing if his body continues to hold up.
