The Philadelphia Flyers scored three goals in regulation for the first time since November 5, and did so against the New York Islanders, the stingiest defense in hockey.
So, obviously, they blew a three-goal lead and then dropped the shootout to end what had been a good two-week stretch on a sour note, picking up only one of the last four potential standings points.
The game was the Flyers’ seventh to reach a shootout through 20 games this season. The Florida Panthers have been to six SOs, while no other team has been in more than four.
