You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have...

The headline should be the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New Jersey Devils 5-3.

The power play converted early, with James van Riemsdyk netting a pair of man-advantage goals in the game’s first 21 minutes, Shayne Gostisbehere looking solid in his first action of the season, and the depth came up big in the third period, with goals from Nolan Patrick and Joel Farabee to put the game out of reach.

Good stuff.

But, as is always the case, context is king.

After the Flyers went up 2-0 59 seconds into the second period, they found themselves tied with NJ by the end of the middle frame, and unable to reclaim momentum for a majority of the second half of the game.
