Two Flyers crumbled to the ice from questionable hits. Why didn't they retaliate?

In two separate incidents Tuesday night, Flyers defensemen Andrew MacDonald and Brandon Manning crumbled to the ice in the second period of their 5-1 loss in Carolina.

With 12 minutes, 55 seconds left in the second, MacDonald was elbowed to the head by Lee Stempniak and had to go to the locker room for a concussion test. Stempniak received a two-minute boarding penalty.

About nine minutes later, Jeff Skinner put his stick across the mouth of Manning, drawing blood but no penalty. Adding insult to injury, literally, Skinner scored a few seconds later to give the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead.
