It’s coming down to the wire, folks–and the odds aren’t great. At time of writing (shortly after 2:30 p.m.), the Pittsburgh Penguins are up 4-1 over the Tampa Bay Lightning, and a win would tie them with the Flyers and New York Islanders at 83 points. What a cruel joke it would be for the Flyers to choke a playoff spot they’ve held for months to the underwhelming-but-still-Crosby-led Penguins.
Last night’s loss to the Buffalo Sabres certainly didn’t help, but the good news is the Flyers had the energy they’d been so lacking the past week or two: through the first half of the game, they’d tripled the Sabres in shots on goal.
