Scott Laughton and the Philadelphia Flyers were able to avoid arbitration on Friday afternoon as they came to an agreement on a two-year deal worth 2.3 million dollars, annually. The 2012 First Round pick warranted a pay raise from his reported 1.05 million qualifying offer as he posted career-high numbers for the Flyers this past season. Some fans thought that this was an overpay from General Manager Chuck Fletcher given the fact that Laughton’s been a fourth-liner for most his NHL career and while I agree that he could’ve received slightly less money, I still think it’ll be a reasonable contract in the long run.
