Philadelphia Flyers: What’s The Holdup With Travis Konecny?

With the Philadelphia Flyers and Ivan Provorov agreeing to a six-year, 40.5 million dollar extension Thursday night, the team got their top-pairing defenseman under contract just in time for Training Camp. Now, with Provorov squared away, General Manager Chuck Fletcher will turn his full attention to forward Travis Konecny, who remains without a contract as camp got underway Friday morning. Most, including myself, thought there wouldn’t be much of a problem with the two sides striking some sort of deal this offseason, but that obviously hasn’t been the case.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie stated on Twitter that Konecny and the Flyers are not close to a new deal and the crux of the problem has to do with Philadelphia basing its’ offer on the fact that TK has averaged just under than 15 minutes of Time on Ice during his three year NHL career.
