Alexis Gendron, drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the seventh round in 2022, has been signed to a three year, entry level contract. Once you hit the later rounds of a draft, getting anything of value is a bonus. Players chosen in the fifth, sixth, or even seventh round don’t come with much expectation. If the player doesn’t hit, it’s not as if the team was necessarily expecting them to. But if said player ends up contributing in any form at the NHL level, it’s that much more of a good look on the scouting departing.
