Wade Allison was drafted 52nd overall in the second round of the 2016 NHL entry draft. He was drafted alongside German Rubstov, Pascal Laberge, Carter Hart, Carson Twarynski, Connor Bunnaman, Linus Hogberg, Tanner Lacyznski, Anthony Salinitri and David Bernhardt.
