One need that the Philadelphia Flyers have to address this offseason is that of a backup goaltender. We saw last season how important it is to have stability in-net (eight different goaltenders) and the Flyers can’t rely on Carter Hart to start night in and night out, especially with the toughness of their 2019-20 schedule. It was almost a foregone conclusion that one of Brian Elliott or Cam Talbot would return to Philadelphia and fill the vacancy, but Frank Seravalli of TSN reported that while Talbot and the Flyers have kept in touch, the “smart money” would have him returning to the Calgary Flames.
