Well, I guess General Manager Chuck Fletcher didn’t want to wait for the July 1st start date, huh? The Philadelphia Flyers announced Monday night that they acquired the right to pending Unrestricted Free Agent centerman Kevin Hayes for a 2019 Fifth Round pick. Elliotte Friedman stated that nothing is imminent on a contract between the two sides, but Philadelphia will make a run at keeping him and not giving a fifth rounder away for nothing.
This move will give the Flyers exclusive negotiating rights to Hayes prior to the beginning of Free Agency.
