The Philadelphia Flyers 2018-19 season was full of hardships, and one of the many issues with the team was the lack of offensive production from defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. After a career-high 65-point effort in 2017-18 that helped the Flyers sit third in the Metropolitan Division standings, Gostisbehere just barely achieved half of that total this past year, scoring 37 points (9 Goals, 28 Assists) in 78 games played. While that led all defensemen on the team, it was the lowest-scoring mark of his five year NHL tenure and wasn’t near what we as fans have been accustomed to seeing out of him since his electrifying rookie season back in 2015-16.
