Hayes: Flyers pay tribute to Snider and his team's golden anniversary

ONE FAN'S DECLARATION of devotion rang out in a moment of golden pause:

"We love you, Ed!"

It was simple, and poignant, and passionate: everything Ed Snider was about.

Moments later, a "Forever Flyers" video montage began, commemorating a legion of people connected with the organization who died during its 50 years of existence. The video wound up with Rick MacLeish, who scored the Game 6 goal in 1974 that won the Flyers the first of two consecutive Stanley Cups. MacLeish died in May, about six weeks after Snider passed.

A few minutes after that, his family walked out onto the ice.
