With their final selection of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers have selected Connor McClennon 178th overall. In 42 games with the Winnipeg Ice of the WHL, McClennon put up 49 points, including 21 goals. His 2019-20 season was cut short due to a broken collarbone.
The 5’8” right-shot was projected to go a fair bit sooner in the draft, with an expected draft range of 55-98 per Colin Cudmore’s xRange. The pick was the second of the Flyers draft class to qualified as a “steal” based on the consolidated draft rankings, following second round pick Emil Andrae.
