Flyers Preview: Goaltending a strength . . . seriously

For decades, goaltending was the position that gave the Flyers and their fans a severe case of agita. Perhaps you remember the nights when Ken Wregget, Dominic Roussel, Ray Emery or any number of goalies fought the puck?

Well, there has been a transformation, thanks in part to a general manager, Ron Hextall, who was one of the few standout goalies in the franchise's history.

As the season approaches, goaltending is (drum roll, please) the Flyers' most dependable position.

Honest.

For all of those who suffered through The Revolving Goaltender Mystery that seemed to occur every season or two, read that sentence again: Goaltending is the Flyers' most dependable position.
