Flyers dump Ryan Ellis’ contract in trade with Sharks

The Philadelphia Flyers have traded defenseman Ryan Ellis and a conditional sixth-round pick to the San Jose Sharks for forward Carl Grundstrom and defenseman Artem Guryev, the team announced Sunday afternoon.

The conditions on the sixth-round pick are that the Sharks shall receive the earlier of the two picks the Flyers currently own — their own and the Blue Jackets’ — in this sixth round of next year’s draft.

This appears to largely be a cap dump for the Flyers. Ryan Ellis has two years left on his contract with a cap hit of $6.
