It turns out an arbitration hearing won’t be necessary after all when it comes to defenseman Michael Del Zotto.
Just five days before the 25-year-old was scheduled to have his salary arbitration hearing with the Flyers, the two parties agreed on a “multi-year” deal, according to the team. Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post reported the deal is for two years and $7.75 million, an AAV of $3.875 million against the cap, leaving the Flyers with just over $200,000 in cap space.
Del Zotto, who was signed to a one-year deal last year after it was clear Kimmo Timonen would be out for an extended period of time, led all Flyers defenseman with 10 goals in 64 games.
