Don’t be shocked if one of the Flyers’ camp cuts turns into an NHL regular

Some players simply struggle to make a strong impression during the preseason, and for the Philadelphia Flyers, Samu Tuomaala fell into that category.

The 22-year-old forward was one of 10 players cut from Flyers training camp in recent days.

Tuomaala appeared in last week’s 3–2 shootout win over the New York Islanders, logging 13:13 of ice time. He registered a single shot on net and was unsuccessful in his shootout attempt.

Given his experience and offensive skill set, Tuomaala’s placement among the early cuts stands out as one of the more surprising moves to date. The decision underscores both the competitiveness of camp and the organization’s high expectations for players vying to secure NHL minutes.
