The Philadelphia Flyers figured they’d have a few pretty good options to choose from with their first pick at sixth overall. They ended up taking winger Porter Martone over a couple of centers still on the board, including James Hagens and Jake O’Brien, and opted to wait to take a centerman later in the first round.
While there may have been a few centers worth taking at 22nd or 31st overall, Danny Briere & Co. decided to package those picks to move up to 12 to snag a big center in Jack Nesbitt.
The decision caused varied reactions throughout the fanbase.
