When the Flyers signed Brian Elliott as a free agent in the offseason, the plan was for him to divide the goaltending duties with Michal Neuvirth.
Instead, he has been a workhorse.
Even before Neuvirth suffered an injury last week, Elliott was getting most of the playing time. He made his fifth straight start Tuesday against Toronto and his 22nd start in 30 games this season.
“I’ve always said when you get an opportunity in this league, you have to take advantage of it,” Elliott said before the game. “I just try to be the best I can for the guys and give them a chance.
