Vikings hire Eagles QB coach John DeFilippo as offensive coordinator

The Minnesota Vikings have hired Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo to be their offensive coordinator, according to an NFL source.

ESPN first reported the news.

DeFilippo, who joined the Eagles in the 2016 offseason, will replace former Eagles’ offensive coordinator and new New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur in Minnesota.

The New York Jets wanted to interview DeFilippo for their offensive coordinator opening last January, but Eagles’ owner Jeffrey Lurie blocked the interview request in order to preserve continuity with quarterback Carson Wentz. DeFilippo, a product of Radnor High, interviewed for the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals head coaching jobs last month.
