Travis Long Suffers Torn ACL

Linebacker Travis Long suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Monday's practice, the team announced.

The injury is a brutal pill to swallow for Long, who was on the verge of making the 53-man roster last season before tearing the ACL in his left knee during the final preseason game. Just under a year later, Long sustained the same injury, this time at the start of Training Camp.

Long was expected to push for serious playing time as the third outside linebacker behind Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham. His absence will open more opportunities for the likes of Marcus Smith and Bryan Braman, while versatile players like Brad Jones, Mychal Kendricks or even Vinny Curry could find themselves cross-trained into the position.
