The Philadelphia Eagles are re-signing veteran cornerback Trevor Williams, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.
The Eagles originally signed Williams, a Penn State alumnus, to a reserve/future contract back in January. He figured to be an interesting dark horse candidate to make the roster given that he’s made 27 starts in 36 career games played.
But the Eagles released Williams in late July in order to get their 90-man offseason roster down to the new 80-player mandate brought about by COVID-19. The thought was that they didn’t have enough reps to give him as much as they might be interested in evaluating their younger players instead.
