In some ways, it feels like it had to happen. The hometown kid comes home and winds up playing for the team that he, no doubt grew up cheering for. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Joe Flacco, a New Jersey native, played his college ball as a member of the Pittsburgh Panthers program before finding his way to the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens.

He wound up as the ECAC Player of the Year, as a First-team All-CAA nod, and the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 before landing with the Baltimore Ravens as the 18th-overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft.
