Philadelphia Eagles release DT Charles Walker

In case you somehow missed it, the Philadelphia Eagles signed LeGarrette Blount to a one-year contract Wednesday. In order to make room for Blount on the roster, the Eagles had to let someone go.

That player turned out to be undrafted free agent Charles Walker out of Oklahoma. If Walker goes unclaimed (unlikely) he will be placed on the Eagles’ injured reserve list.

The Eagles signed Walker just last week. Despite going undrafted, Walker has mid-round talent and could have competed for a roster spot on the Eagles’ deep defensive line.

What caused him to fall so far in the draft wasn’t his on-field production, but likely had something to do with his decision not to return to Oklahoma after suffering his third career concussion, which may have contributed to his recent battle with depression.
