And so it begins. The Philadelphia Eagles announced on the final Sunday of August that they were waiving five prospects, including a well-known running back that’s been hanging around the organization since 2019.
It was on New Year’s Eve back in 2019 when the Birds signed Elijah Holyfield after his contract expired with a Carolina Panthers team that had signed him as an undrafted free agent following that year’s version of the NFL Draft.
The theory was this. Signing Holyfield that early would give him a jump start on the 2020 season, but when the next year came, the former Georgia Bulldog was buried on the depth chart.
