Philadelphia Eagles bring back 2016 draft pick to practice squad

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Alex McCalister to their 10-man practice squad, according to an official announcement from the team. In order to make room for McCalister, the Eagles released practice squad wide receiver Rashard Davis.

McCalister was selected by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season stashed away on Philadelphia’s injured reserve list. McCalister was pushing for a fifth defensive end spot on the Eagles’ roster but he lost out to veteran Steven Means this summer.

The Eagles placed McCalister on injured reserve again but later waived him with an injury settlement.
