Walter Thurmond has seemingly settled into the starting safety role, and the same can be said for Andrew Gardner at right guard.
When it comes to the nickel, however, the position remains unfilled.
The three leading candidates continue to be second-round pick Eric Rowe, second-year defensive back Jaylen Watkins and veteran E.J. Biggers. Safeties Walter Thurmond and Malcolm Jenkins could come down to cover the slot when needed, but the coaching staff is looking for one of the corners to step up and secure the job.
