Kirk Cousins offered ridiculous amount of money by Redskins

The deadline to extend players under the franchise tag has come and gone and Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins still doesn’t have a long-term deal.

However, he was almost given a ridiculous contract that would have made him one of the wealthiest quarterbacks in NFL history.

According to an official release from the Redskins, the team offered Cousins “the highest fully guaranteed amount upon signing for a quarterback in NFL history ($53 million) and guaranteed a total of $72 million for injury.”

For comparison, Derek Carr‘s contract (worth $125 million over five seasons) includes just $40 million in guaranteed money, which is, um, a lot.
