Jerardi: Why the Eagles are so confounding

Related Topics: Buddy Ryan, Chip Kelly

Even when the Eagles are supposed to be good, I generally find them confounding. The coach changes, the players change, the expectations are altered; the bottom line stays the same. They win games, but never the right games.

When they are exciting (see Buddy Ryan era), they are fundamentally flawed. When they are fundamentally sound (see Andy Reid era), they are not exciting. When they are on the cutting edge (see Chip Kelly era), they get sliced in the end.

Here is what I think I know about 2016 as the Doug Pederson era begins.

The defense can’t possibly be worse than it was in the second half of last year.
