Over the course of the 2015 season, it became clear that the offensive line was a part of the roster in need of an upgrade for the 2016 season.
After Evan Mathis and Todd Herremans departed via free agency last offseason, the Eagles plugged Andrew Gardner and Allen Barbre into the starting guard positions, but an ankle injury landed Gardner on Injured Reserve early in the campaign. Matt Tobin stepped in and did a serviceable job in his time as a starter, but it was evident that the Eagles needed more talent at the starting guard spots.
