Former Philadelphia Eagles player and coach Marion Campbell dies at 87

This has been a rough year for the Philadelphia Eagles.

First came the death of Buddy Ryan, former head coach of the Eagles’ fearsome defense from 1986-1990. Now the Eagles have lost another great in Marion Campbell, the team announced lated Sunday night. Campbell was 87 years old.

Campbell both coached and played for the Eagles. As a player, Campbell played for the Eagles from 1956-1961 and was an integral player on the Eagles’ 1960 championship team, earning 1st team All-Pro honors that year. Prior to the Eagles, Campbell played two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
