The NFL Players Association officially announced Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long as the recipient of the 2018 NFLPA Byron “Whizzer” White Community MVP award on Thursday evening.
This award is the highest honor that the NFLPA can bestow upon a player. As a result of earning this honor, the NFLPA will donate $100,000 to a charity of Long’s choice.
Long was nominated for this award after being named an NFLPA Community MVP in Week 2. Long earned that distinction for donating his entire season’s worth of paychecks to help fund scholarships in Charlottesville, Virginia.
