Defensive Takes Command In Shutout
Throughout the entirety of the game, the Eagles’ defense came up with four interceptions to keep the Steelers off the scoreboard. It all started at the 9:27 mark of the first quarter, when quarterback Landry Jones threw a short pass intended for Sammie Coates. Instead it was cornerback Nolan Carroll who came away with the football, returning it 38 yards for the Eagles’ first touchdown of the game. The touchdown gave the team a 7-0 lead after the extra point.
Then late in the first quarter, cornerback Leodis McKelvin deflected a pass in the end zone that Malcolm Jenkins was able to intercept.
