The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced a roster move on Friday afternoon but it wasn’t the one you were expecting. Instead of confirming the reported Johnathan Cyprien signing, the Eagles announced they’re waiving linebacker Joey Alfieri in order to sign free agent tight end Alex Ellis.

Ellis is a Delmar, Delaware native who originally entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft. The 26-year-old Ellis has logged three receptions for 11 yards in eight careers games played (three starts).
