Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles could’ve easily gone into a panic. As they allowed their backup quarterback, Nate Sudfeld take the field for almost the entire first half; the third-year passer would go down with a wrist injury. It turns out, he broke it and needed surgery.
That called for Cody Kessler to move into the second-string spot, while rookie fifth-rounder Clayton Thorson became third-string once again. While there were rumors of the Eagles potentially inking a new quarterback, Doug Pederson and the front office didn’t think it would be necessary considering Sudfeld’s timetable.
