Another former Eagles player is retiring from the NFL this week

Earlier this week, we learned that former Philadelphia Eagles first-round pick Marcus Smith is leaning towards retirement. Now one of his former teammates appears to be joining him.

The San Francisco 49ers announced that veteran defensive lineman Cedric Thornton is retiring from the league.

Thornton, who turned 30 years old in June, originally began his NFL career when the Eagles signed him as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2011. Thornton then worked his way up into becoming a full-time starter with the Eagles from 2013 through 2015.
