Eagles Week 4 Recap and Grades as Philadelphia won 25-20 on Sunday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles are now in first place in the NFC East after Week 4 despite a slow start. Carson Wentz, Josh Sweat and Darius Slay came up huge for the Eagles, while Miles Sanders had an off day for Philadelphia. Thomas Mott, host of Eagles Now, gives his grades for the Eagles’ Week 4 win vs the 49ers.
Eagles rumors are dying on the hill that Carson Wentz needs to be benched, but he proved doubters wrong in NFL Week 4. Wentz was facing scrutiny from everyone in Philadelphia, but he flashed signs of his former self as the Eagles QB made some phenomenal throws, including the huge TD to Travis Fulgham late in the 4th.
Miles Sanders was not his usual self in Week 4 with only 15 touches and not a lot of production. The Eagles offensive line was rattled with injuries, but they held up for the most part. Jordan Mailata got his first start of his career at left tackle and played very well, and Carson Wentz was only sacked three times the entire night.
The Eagles’ defense came up huge for the second straight week only this time, they were able to produce turnovers. The Eagles Defense forced three takeaways, including a pick six of Nick Mullens and a fumble recovery. Josh Sweat and Derek Barnett contributed to five sacks on the night for the Eagles’ defense.
