VJ Edgecombe to miss summer league game vs. OKC with thumb contusion

Sigh.

After an excellent summer league debut, Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe will miss Monday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a thumb contusion. The team is considering him day-to-day.

The 19-year-old dropped 28 points and stuffed the stat sheet with 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal in Saturday night’s loss to the Utah Jazz. There were no indications that Edgecombe was feeling any ill effects postgame. Hopefully it’s truly a precautionary decision to hold him out.

Judah Mintz will start in place of Edgecombe alongside Jalen Hood-Schifino, Justin Edwards, Johni Broome and Adem Bona.
