Sixers’ Zhaire Smith undergoes scope following allergic reaction

The 76ers said Zhaire Smith had a thoracoscopy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital on Wednesday. A thoracoscopy is an examination of the chest cavity by way of a scope.

He received the scope due to an allergic reaction to something he ate earlier this week. As of Thursday morning, Smith was still at Jefferson Hospital.

The rookie shooting guard is sidelined with an acute Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal in the left foot. He is expected to return from the foot injury in December.
