Sixers Zhaire Smith Could Return by Christmas

The positive health news keeps rolling in for the City of Philadelphia and its sports teams. Yesterday, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was medically cleared and will start Sunday.

Zhaire Smith, whom the Sixers traded Mikal Bridges on draft night for back in June, had surgery to repair an acute Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot last month.

Smith, the Texas Tech guard who averaged 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists during his lone season with the Red Raiders, originally broke the bone on August 6th while participating in Tim Grgurich’s development camp in Las Vegas

The recovery time as Pompey points out is six to eight weeks, but sometimes teams allow more time for recovery (unless you’re the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015).
