Sixers' Robert Covington to have knee surgery

NEW YORK – 76ers small forward Robert Covington will have surgery in the coming days to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee at the Hospital of Special Surgery.

Covington said that he will get the damaged area scoped during the procedure. The recovery time is normally four to six weeks. However, he was told that his recovery time could be shorter.

“It’s nothing that’s serious or anything,” he said. “The MRI showed that it’s just a baby tear.”

Covington later added that it’s more a precautious thing than anything. He said one of his options was taking an extended time of rest.
